Homeschooling for Teens

Have your state's new requirements for accountability gotten you down? Or would you just like a way to teach history, writing, and English literature that will more fully engage your teenager? You have come to the right place!

These courses are rated for the teenager due to language and a more honest review of history than found in most middle school textbooks. The majority of the history units are based on history books written for adult readers and, while highly entertaining, the history has not been edited for a younger readers sensibilities. In the firm belief that history has never should never be boring, the books chosen are written by authors with a gift for storytelling and a love of the subject matter. This year our focus is on American pre-Columbian history, the variant theories on just who discovered America, and the changes wrought worldwide when the European and indigenous cultures collided. Almost all the books selected are also available in audio CD format for the student who prefers an auditory style of learning. In order to increase accessibility for the auditory learner, speaker icons will be found on many of the pages on this website. Just press to hear the text read aloud. Please note that the books themselves will need to be purchased or borrowed from your local library. The only exception to this are books used in the literary lessons where the authors copyright has expired. In these instances a downloadable copy of the book will be included in the course.

If you enjoy these courses please spread the word, for every hundred students a course acquires the price for taking the course will go down.
